Horrorful Histories

I love reading horror stories, I have a wild imagination and it's always fascinating to idealise that there's a link from the past to the present at certain times in certain places.

THAT SAID.....

While indulging in some travel related American Horror Stories (Theme Park edition) there was a link to check out reportedly haunted sites all over the world. Well, of course I clicked!
Which is how I found this....

  • Dreamworld is a theme park in Coomera, Queensland. One building inside the grounds of the theme park, where the reality television series Big Brother Australia is produced, has been reported to be haunted since the show's start in 2001. Numerous production staff claim to have witnessed the presence of a young girl, as well as a child's voice and fog appearing late at night and early in the morning. In addition, since the Buzzsaw ride was built in the 2011, there have been sightings of a ghost called Jack Darke, who has been claimed to have been killed by a buzzsaw. It is also rumored that the Buzzsaw is built on a burial ground.[6]

Here's the actual website from Dreamworld, here's the Wikipedia page about it.

The Dreamworld page has spoooooky background images and shaky confession cams from staff members about how hauuuunted and eeerie the place is. The Wikipedia page just has information about the RIDE and what type it is.

I'm just going to put it out there. This is an obvious case of marketing and theming for a theme park ride. I generally enjoy theme park theming, it's all there in the name! This Wikipedia thing just really bugged me. It is annoying as hell when things like this can make it onto a global website known for its accuracy, and be paraded as fact. It's actually pretty embarrassing for Australia as well.

I can't speak for the Big Brother house though. That's probably the manifestation of deep, deep shame and crappy television.
